Each application for Certificate of Need for contiguous county bed relocation
may only request up to 30 long-term care beds. The Department has determined
that they cannot accept an application for a contiguous county bed relocation
that would result in the existing health care facility receiving more than 30
long-term care beds through this method. Applicants for both University Park
Nursing and Rehab Center and Shepherd of the Valley – Howland filed two
applications for contiguous county relocations. The Ohio Department of Health
accepted only one application each. The second application was returned to the
applicant because it would have resulted in the facility receiving more than 30
beds from a contiguous county.
