Results of Ohio’s long-term care bed need formula are now available
April 2010
Results of Ohio’s long-term care bed need formula are now available on our web
site at http://www.qmcg.com/services/regulatory/certneed/.
The bed need map identifies those counties with a bed excess, those counties
with a bed need, and the maximum number of long-term care beds that may be
approved for relocation among these counties. Application for Certificate of
Need for the relocation of long-term care beds from a county with a bed excess
to a county with a bed need will be accepted by the Ohio Department of Health
from July 1, 2010 through July 30, 2010. These applications will be subject to
a comparative review process that differs from the normal Certificate of Need
review process for intra-county and contiguous county bed relocations. For
example, preference will be given to applications that meet the greatest number
of priorities established by the Ohio legislature and partial Certificate of
Need approvals may be issued. We are conducting three “Lunch and Learn”
sessions during the month of April to review the new Certificate of Need
comparative review process and criteria and identify ways to best present your
project. Sessions will occur in Columbus on April 14, in West Chester on April
19, and in Cleveland on April 20. Session announcements and registration
information are available at http://www.bricker.com/Seminars/.
