Outpatient Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Claim Review by NGS

According to the National Government Services (NGS) website (posted 7/17/09), NGS will begin editing claims based on the current Outpatient Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Local Coverage Determination (LCD) within the next 30 to 90 days.
Are your Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Departments aware of the contents in the LCD? For example, is your facility billing the units (minutes) of therapy based on the minute chart listed in the LCD? Or, is your facility separately billing non-covered preoperative joint classes?
Be sure the Therapy Departments are aware of the current LCD and Supplemental Instruction Article. Your facility needs to know if the therapy services are being billed accurately.
