Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) Selected for Ohio
January 2009
In a Medicare Fact Sheet released by CMS on January 7, 2009 the MAC was selected
for the State of Ohio. Both Ohio and Kentucky are in Jurisdiction 15. Highmark
Medicare Services (HMS) was awarded the contract for the administration of
Medicare Part A and Part B claims payment in Jurisdiction 15. According to CMS
transitioning the workload from the existing contractor (National Government
Services for Part A and Palmetto GBA for Part B) to the new MAC will take
approximately 6-13 months.
Palmetto GBA was selected to process the home health and hospice claims for
several states, including Ohio.
