Coding/Billing Audits

It is recommended that the coding for at least 75 encounters be reviewed yearly to assure appropriate reimbursement. QMCG auditors review the documentation with the CMS 1500 form for:

• Accuracy of the ICD-9-CM coding;
• Accuracy of the CPT coding with use of modifiers;
• Missing charges.

The accounts selected for review should be reflective of all service lines provided at the facility. A detailed report summarizing the findings will be prepared by QMCG.

This review can be scheduled on site at your facility or off site at the QMCG offices.

QMCG professionals are available by email, fax or telephone to respond to ASC staff questions concerning coding and claims submission issues - a different level of "help desk". The service is charged in 15 minute increments and responses are most often accomplished by copies of supporting documentation.
