Representative Experience

• Partner in Health Care Department of the law firm of Bricker & Eckler which serves as counsel to health care entities throughout the country as well as many healthcare trade associations. The firm represents a wide variety of health care entities including hospitals and their medical staffs, the long term care industry, home health agencies, provider-sponsored health insurance programs, health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, physician hospital organizations, as well as individual healthcare professionals and group practices.
• Represented hospital in Riverside Methodist Hospitals v. Tommy Thompson (2003 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 15163, 2003), overturning disallowance of residents in IME count based on nature of residency program activities
• Represented the Ohio Hospital Association in OHA v. Shalala (201 Fed. 3d 418, 1999), successfully challenging the government's use of the False Claims Act in Ohio's laboratory unbundling litigation
• Represented hospital in Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center v. Shalala (1997 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 13224, 1997), ordering the government to update reasonable compensation equivalent (RCE) limits
